SKYMILL

Powerful, compact and precise, SkyMill is the ideal CNC machine for those looking for the best milling solutions on 2000x1000MM format.

DISCOVER SKYMILL

High-power milling

Skymill offers the ultimate for machining on aluminum, advanced materials and technical plastics, with a choice of two different spindles:

  • 8 kW | 36.000 rpm, with HSK40 coupling, for high-speed machining

  • 14 kW | 24.000 rpm, with HSK63F attachment, for high removal machining (available for Skymill EVO).

Tool change

Skymill and Skymill EVO have fast and accurate automatic tool changing systems, up to 30 positions, equipped with tool length presetting system.

Cooling

SkyMill is equipped with a dual lubrication and cooling system for the contact area between the plate and the tool. One pair of nozzles is integrated inside the large chip suction guard, ensuring effective oil/air delivery, during milling with the guard fully lowered onto the table. 

In case of machining operations without using the hood, a second pair of nozzles, pneumatically operated, can be engaged, directly from the control console, to ensure perfect lubrication under all working conditions.

Renishaw probe

Positioned inside the Z-axis assembly, safe from shock and possible damage, SkyMill has Renishaw probe for measuring and locating the part, setting origins and resuming machining, after part rotation and translation operations.

The probe, mounted alongside the electrospindle, is always available, activated from the operator panel, without taking up unnecessary positions in the tool changer.

Furthermore, 25 probing functions make it possible to automate every part positioning operation and identification of machining origins.

MILLING PERFORMANCE

SkyMill features a sturdy electro-welded steel frame. This structure effectively reduces vibration and ensures extremely precise machining.

The axes are driven by brushless motors with absolute encoders and preloaded ball screws, ensuring smooth, repeatable and high-precision movements.

WORKTOPFIXING SOLUTIONS

The work table (dimensions 1080 x 2030 mm), made of milled and ground aluminum, ensures a perfectly flat surface. The top has a double fastening system: a vacuum system with the possibility of sectioning and one with threaded steel dowels for mechanical fastening using brackets/clamps.

VACUUM FIXING

SkyMill is equipped with a worktable capable of holding workpieces by means of a vacuum system, in the total absence of mechanical anchors. This system, powered by powerful pumps and controlled by solenoid valves, allows fast positioning of the plates, reducing table setup time and enabling milled workpieces, even small ones, to be held without external aids. The platen can be partialized into 8 zones, directly selectable via the operator panel.

MECHANICAL FIXING

Clamps, screws, bolts, and other mechanical components can be installed to secure the workpiece on the milling machine table. In this way, there is no possibility of sudden movement of the workpiece specimen.

The method is suitable for small and medium-sized workpieces, as it requires good accessibility to the workpiece in order to be properly secured.

Useful worktable and floor space

SkyMill has a compact, ergonomic design with an excellent ratio of useful milling area to overall floor space. Vertical sliding doors provide easy and safe access to the work area while maintaining a small footprint, with the possibility of installing the machine near part or other machinery.

CNC control

Suction and management of milling residues

 A large, height-adjustable hood is installed on the Z-axis assembly, which can be connected to an external vacuum to effectively collect chips. The hood can be easily disengaged directly with software control from the operator panel. Should it be necessary to work without the help of the hood, the milling residues can be collected inside special containers, located below the working table.
